ABOUT
One of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle sits at the top of a large hill at the end of the Royal Mile. Not only does it hold the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, but quite a few ghosts lurk in its dungeons.
There is an old legend that an underground tunnel connects Edinburgh Castle to Holyroodhouse. A phantom piper, once sent through to discover the length of the tunnel, supposedly can be heard walking beneath the ground…still playing the bagpipes. Within the dungeons themselves, people report hearing the groans of prisoners of war between England and Scotland, still hoping to be freed.
An old cemetery is located on the grounds, but not for humans. The Dog Cemetery is home to soldiers’ dogs who have passed away. But some people claim the dogs’ loyalty is unwavering, even in death.
